When the hell do I get to Christmas Shop?
I swear, every day I have off is used up. Monday before last I spent the day at 2 hospitals, one with hubby for a colonoscopy, one with SIL and nephews to get fork boys foot checked(check moving day blog). Wednesday I had was busy with STUFF. Friday morning I had x-rays and ultrasound. Saturday was the church Christmas Carnival and Sunday I worked. Monday I had 2 doctors appointments. Yesterday I had my bone marrow biopsy. Working today and tomorrow. Saturday going to IKEA with SIL to pick up table and chairs and moving beds around from her house to ours. Next Monday again 2 doctors appointments. Wednesday aspiration of fluid and injection of cortisone into my left hip. Friday a barium followthrough of my small bowel. Then its Christmas, and what have I done...
I hope people like vouchers, cause I think thats all the time I'm gonna have. I will be soooo glad when my boss goes away for 2 weeks after new year, I so need that time off. (probably for more doctors appointments) The story of my life

Its finally arrived!! My last sleep before my trip!!! I leave Melbourne tomorrow morning at 8:00, fly to Sydney then directly to New York. Its a long flight (20 hours) so I have heaps of distractions packed. I packed some beads and hemp string (no tools), a couple of books, some magazines and some CD's and Merryn's discman. That should keep me busy. I've been making some funky key chains over the last week. They should go down well at the craft stall for church when I get back. I'll keep some for my market stall too if they go down well.
I'll keep you up to date on my trip so be sure to check in once in a while.

Well, stress and fatigue have the undesireable result of bringing on just one more flare of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Just when I need all my energy and wits about me I have neither energy nor wits. Mums surgery is in a couple of days, and I am working full time for 2 weeks while one of the girls is on holidays. I can't complain because she will have to work full time for 4 weeks while I'm away. But of course the RA flares when I really need it not to. I've been back on painkillers again after weeks without anything. Just what I need when I have to work full time, plan to be away for a month and pack and try to look after the family at the same time. I'm also hoping to do a market when I get back, the first weekend in November. I probably have almost enough stuff for that but should keep making anyway. I need to get more photos printed and sorted and do some more collages. Too much to do and no way to do it.
Oh well enough of a vent. It just bugs me when I get a flare and my hands don't work anymore. I really am looking forward to going to Canada and have got to get the house dug out before I go so that Mark, Merryn and Jordan stand a chance of surviving. I even get to take my jewellery tools on the plane and can happily sit for hours (and hours) making jewellery instead of watching bad movies. But I can't take any lip gloss on the plane so I will feel like prune lips when I get off in Toronto. How weird is that, I can take wire and pliers but no lip balm. I feel the need to create. After I sleep.

We are in mourning. Australia has lost a great character. How tragic for his family and friends and many fans.
My heart goes out to Terry and Bindy and Bob.

Goodbye Steve Irwin.

This is Jordan's latest creation. We are hoping that soon he will be back into his woodwork and feeling creative and productive and happy. He designed and built this a few months ago and has recently finished it off with navy felt on the base of the tray and finished the wood with danish oil.
He really is very talented with his hands. He also likes to do some clay sculpture and has made some really interesting pieces. When I ask what they are, he scornfully says,"if you have to ask, you wouldn't know". I suppose that makes sense.

I am travelling to Toronto in 4 weeks. Mum is having a mastectomy on Friday September 8, so I am going to spend 3 weeks with her the first 3 weeks of October. I'll be home for Canadian Thanksgiving for the first time in about 20 years. It will be nice to just spend some quiet family time. Then I will fly down to Tampa to visit with Cy and Linda for about 6 days. After that I will spend 4 days in New York city by myself!!! Four days!! By myself!!! I can't wait!!! I will catch up with my nephew Paul and check out the Big Apple on my own. I haven't been to New York for about 27 years. Man that makes me sound old.

Check out our recent photos on my flickr badge down on the right side. They are random photos that I will update frequently.

I'd love your comments on my work, both the photography and the jewellery. If you want to see more click on visit my etsy store.

Spring has sprung!!

The weather the last couple of days (the first couple of days of spring), has been glorious. I am so ready for spring, winter has been long and cold.

I've celebrated with more jewellery. Colour is the best cure for the winter blues.

Foto's Finally Framed

Yesterday I bought matts for mounting my photos. I spent all evening matching and mounting. The final result was pretty good if I do say so myself.
It's amazing how a piece of coloured cardboard can make a plain photo into something quite frameable.

Now I just have to get up enough nerve to tout them to a couple of shops or galleries on the tourist trail.

Let me know what you think.

New Additions to my shop

This is my latest effort. I've taken some of my flower photos and played with them in Photoshop. I gave them a watercolour effect then printed them on canvas type paper. They look like little paintings in the cards.

I think they are pretty. I'm going to pick up some more canvas paper so I can do some more. I think I might just give some for Christmas.

I think I'll do some Christmas shopping on Etsy this year.

I love having pretty things on my wrists. The way they catch your eye as you move your hands during daily life, brings a spark of colour.
Out of the corner of your eye you catch it when you point to something.

It crosses your eyes in a quick blur of colour when you brush your hair from your eyes.

It jangles and flashes when you shake someones hand.

It amuses the baby for minutes at a time when nothing else can.

This is one of my favourite photographs. It was taken after a wild storm. The clouds moved through and the sun appeared on the horizon as a brilliant gold ball. When I used my telephoto lens I was able to catch the sun as if suspended from the branch by raindrops.

I've always wanted a necklace made of this photo, with a large brass disc suspended by crystals to a wire, with the leaves in wire and metal.

One day I will have it made.

It reminds me of the sunshine after the storms in life. The storm might be wild and raging, but afterwards there is beauty and a fresh start.

My very first blog in my very new home.
